No Summer Baseball?
So the nice weather lately had me remembering the good old days of summer when you'd go swimming all day, then play Little League baseball at night.  I loved it, Dad gets roped into umpiring a game, then somebody's mom starts ripping him for not being able to see and coach tells us to quit swimming on game-day, cause we'll be all worn out for the game that night while I'm in the batters box with my over-sized, sweaty helmet hoping I don't strike out.  It was a great way to spend the summer.   Imagine my surprise when I found out that we don't play Little League Baseball in the summer around here.    What?  When did that happen?   Little League seasons are almost over already!   Huh?   What do kids do in the summer if they don't play baseball?   We finally don't have to worry about rain-outs around here and the season is over.   I was flabbergast when I heard that.   I had no idea.  That sure takes the fun out of the annual family arguement about if we're gonna sacrifice a couple of weeks of Little League season so junior can join the family for the annual trek to South Dakota to see Uncle Larry's new sheep and the World's Largest Ball of string.
